Cards, Prizes, and Fun: The Annual Card Party Fundraiser

On March 14, 2025, the Class of 2025 hosted the annual card party fundraiser and brought the school community together for a lively night of prizes and fundraising. This yearly tradition had a wide range of raffle prizes, making sure there was something for everyone. From gift cards to exciting experiences, attendees had the chance to win great gifts while supporting the senior class. The event was a fun way to raise money for the seniors’ upcoming activities and Senior Week, making it a memorable evening for all who attended.

Senior Advisor Mrs. Grace Antonucci, who also ran the event, expressed how successful the card party was this year. “The Card Party was very successful,” said Mrs. A, “We made over $10,000.00.  All the money that was raised will benefit the Senior Class during Senior Week.  The trip to Dorney Park costs roughly $11,000.00 for all the seniors to attend.  We are so fortunate it was a successful night and thanks to everyone for attending.” Not only does this event raise funds for the senior class, it also gives other students an opportunity to start gaining senior points, as it’s a way to save some money off of your prom bid regardless if you are a senior or not.

Many students this year took time to volunteer to gain some senior points and support the senior class. Senior Eri Tooher added, “In my opinion, this year the card party was much more successful.” Having multiple seniors put their efforts into volunteering and helping our class out was a very fun and exciting event, she also states, “knowing it’s going to help us to enjoy the rest of our senior year makes the senior class very happy as it gives us something to look forward to.”

The Card Party has been a community event since 1974, it was originally  held at the American Legion Hall in Edgewater and then at the Community Center.  It was moved to the high school to alleviate all the transporting of gifts.  Mrs. Antonucci continued to say “Gift cards and lottery tickets are usually very popular.  The most popular gifts in the grand prize category were the $500.00 donated by Visions Federal Credit Union, SMART TV and Tiffany necklace.” There were many lucky winners who got to take these special gifts home!

Mrs. A who has been running the card party since 1999 also wanted to extend her gratitude to the Home & School parents and the Senior Class advisors. She continues to say, “We had a few other staff members who went above and beyond.  A big thank you to the PACE program and all the teachers in the program, Ms. Gabrielsen, Ms. Millar and Mrs. Grala.  We are so grateful for their help.”

As successful as the Card party was this year, we hope for an even bigger turnout next year!
