The Holiday Season: Joy, Love, and Memories
The holidays are finally here- a time of festivities, joy, and quality experiences with family and friends. The season offers opportunities to celebrate, bask in festivities, connect with others, and embrace a growing sense of optimism.
A Sense of Togetherness
Celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas is all about getting together with family and friends annually, and creating important memories. Senior Maceo Irizarry appreciates both holidays and the moments they create amongst his family. “For Thanksgiving, we always have the usual amazing dinner.” When discussing his celebration of Christmas, he noted, “During Christmas, we all decorate the tree together, watch movies, and then eventually give each other presents.”
Maceo believes the holidays always manage to strengthen his relationship with family and friends. “We talk with each other, share stories, and make memories.”
Senior Jack Armstrong similarly remarks the holiday season as an important opportunity for friends and family to strengthen their relationships, creating a sense of unity as they continue to experience shared moments of joy and celebration.“The holidays give us a chance to come together and spend valuable time.” He went on to say, “I always strengthen my relationships with anybody during the holidays, and that’s why I love it so much.”
Gifting and Festive Vibes
Of course, we can’t forget a beloved aspect of the holiday season – gifting. For Jack, giving presents to his family and friends is a way to express his appreciation for them and heighten their spirits. “I’m thinking of giving my cousins some video games or gift cards.” And for his other relatives, Jack found it a good opportunity to give the rest of his close relatives meaningful gifts, noting, “I also want to give the rest of my family some nice cards with notes inside.”
In its power to enhance shared experiences, the holidays are simply unmatched when it comes to evoking joyful and festive vibes. Jack noted, “Everything just feels so joyful and festive.” He would go on to say, “I love to see the decorations and just do things that are festive related.” Senior Eric Kim agrees, explaining “There’s always something cozy and comforting that comes with the holidays.” He later went on to say, “It’s nice to be with family and friends while taking a break from school to just enjoy the season.”
Holiday Treats
The absolutely amazing and tasty food during the holidays is another important contributor to the season’s beloved vibes. Eric noted, “It’s always desserts and treats. My family sometimes makes homemade, amazing desserts and treats during the holidays.” This sentiment extends into Thanksgiving, too. “Even during thanksgiving, turkey and mashed potatoes are always my favorites.”
Gratitude and Giving Thanks
Thanksgiving is the time to reflect and share thanks. Maceo is quite fond of this widely recognized tradition, and he has plenty to be grateful for in his life. “I’m most grateful for my friends and family. They are always there for me and give support whenever I need it.” He went on to say, “I’m also grateful for good health and the chance to pursue things I am passionate about.”
The holiday season is a period of time widely looked forward to by many. Whether it’s shaped by culture or family traditions, the holiday season guarantees memorable experiences. Maceo, Jack, and Eric’s experiences during the holidays reflect this reason of interest, and it’s important to not take the season for granted- use it to spend quality time with your family, relatives and friends, share your appreciation for them, have lots of fun, and enjoy the festive vibes.
