Spring Pep Rally

The first Spring Pep Rally took place on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, in the Leonia High School Gymnasium. The Leonia High School Student Council Spirit Committee put their hard work into organizing this successful event.

The theme for this year’s Spring Pep Rally was Hawaiian. One unique addition to this season’s pep rally was the all-day-long Ro-sham-bo contest (Rock-Paper-Scissors). The contest started when all the students came to school in the morning. Every student received a string of beads, and they played rock-paper-scissors with other students throughout the school day, shouting “Roshambo!” The winner of each contest got to take one of the loser’s beads until the Spring Pep Rally officially began.

When the pep rally officially began, members of the Student Council Spirit Committee introduced Leonia High School’s spring-season sports teams: Golf, Boy’s Tennis, Softball, Baseball, Girl’s Flag Football, and Track & Field. Each team came to the center of the gym with a song of their choice, and the captains introduced their teams with a speech.

After that, the games and activities session started. People were randomly selected from those who had already signed up for different games in the Google Form earlier in the week. The games started with musical chairs, followed by tic-tac-toe relay races, Tug of war, Roshambo contest finals, and last but not least, hole-in-one golf.

In the final of the Roshambo Contest, which was the centerpiece of this Spring Pep Rally, those with 20 or more beads descended to the middle of the gym to play another round of Roshambo, followed by a tournament-style match until there was only one person left. The winner of this year’s Spring Pep Rally Roshambo contest was Luka Zivkovic.

Following the success of the Winter Pep Rally, the hotly anticipated Spring Pep Rally was a success. Thanks to the Leonia High School Student Council Spirit Committee for their new ideas and improvements to make the event more interesting and raise the school spirit.
