Superbowl Showdown
The Super Bowl is usually set to be a showdown like no other, and is always something that has everyone on their feet. The game is important but another important event that always has people excited is the halftime show. People watch for the intensity of who is going to be performing and the expectations that everyone has always make this experience even better.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, two of the NFL’s top teams, were ready to battle it out for the 2025 championship. The Eagles chased their second title, while the Chiefs aimed to add another trophy so they could be three for three as superbowl champions. The opinions on the Superbowl are always very interesting to hear, especially after this controversial game and halftime performance by Kendrick Lamar.
Senior Daniel Alley says, “I was definitely rooting for the Eagles. They had such a strong season, and it felt like their time to win. Plus, their defense was insane, and I really wanted to see Jalen Hurts get that championship.”
Senior Elijah Hernandez agreed, “I was all in for the Eagles. They played so well throughout the season, and seeing the Chiefs constantly win year after year it was time for someone else to take the victory even though the Chiefs gameplay was not the best. The Eagles defense was amazing, and I really wanted A.J. Brown to be a part of that championship victory.”
Mark Portrick ’25 added, “From the start, I was rooting for the Eagles. They had an incredible season, after the Chiefs were constantly winning it was time for another team to win. With their defense playing so strong, I was really hoping Devonta Smith would be part of that championship victory.”
Both Daniel and Mark expressed their dislike of the halftime show. “I thought the halftime show was good, but I think it could’ve been better with a different artist. Maybe someone with a little more energy would’ve been cool.” Mark continued, “I wasn’t too impressed by the halftime show. The performance didn’t stand out, and it didn’t have the energy I was expecting. It just didn’t feel as exciting as previous shows one being Rhianna who had many speechless with her awesome performance in 2023”
In conclusion, the Super Bowl is more than just a game; it’s an event everyone looks forward to. The matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs made things exciting, but the halftime show, especially with Kendrick Lamar performing, also got a lot of attention. People always have strong opinions about both the game and the show, and this year was no different.
