Leonia Softball Brings Home League Championship

On Friday, May 17th, the Lady Lions softball team won the League Championship for the first time since 2011. Captains Lola Fernandez, Regan Lynch, and Jayla Vasquez led the team to a 11-1 victory against the Ridgefield Royals.

This game was a redemption rematch after the Lady Lions lost the Leagues to Ridgefield last year. The team was out to prove something as they took the field at 7PM under the lights at Leonia High School.

Homefield advantage worked for the Lady Lions as their fans packed the bleachers and bolstered the team’s morale. Emily Ignacio ’27 pitched a great game, giving up only 2 hits and one run over five innings.

Dani Daproza ’27 smashed a 3 run homer into left field in the bottom of the third to put the Lady Lions ahead 6-1. Anabel Sohn ’27 rocked a base-clearing double to score 3 more in the bottom of the fourth to bring the Lady Lion’s total to 11 runs.

Congratulations to the Lady Lions on a fantastic season!
