Hipsters 101

Hipsters are viewed as people who try to stand out and be out of the ordinary.

They are interested in different things than the rest of society. The way they dress, the

type of music they listen to, the style of their hair, and the activities they participate in

are what make them stand out. Both females and males can be considered hipsters.

“Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20’s and 30’s that value

independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and

indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter”, as quoted by urban dictionary. In

other words, they are anti-social loners who have an interest in anarchy and weird

music that no one has ever heard of. They usually do not play sports so most of their

hobbies must include activities that require little to no movement like drawing and

listening to music.

Most male hipsters usually have luscious, shaggy, hair that flows and they

constantly fluff. It has no definite shape and is always changing by the direction of the

wind and movement. Many male hipsters wear glasses with big frames that sometimes

are not even prescribed, fancy pants usually come in a variety of colors, scarves,

cardigans, and Lucky Brand Asherr Lace-up Booties. Female hipsters dress similarly to

men with the glasses and scarves, but they are somewhat different because they wear

clothes that are more vintage looking. Many of these clothing include dull or boring

colors that do not stand out. Most of the clothing is usually baggy and not tight unless it

is leggings. Necklaces are also a big part of the outfit because it is a little bit of

decoration. Although this style of dressing may seem complicated, it is surely very

unique.
