Admitted Students Day

Admitted students day is a highly anticipated event that gives upcoming students a chance to experience first hand their future at their university. These are held by colleges or universities across the country and the world, allowing students to explore campus, meet staff, interact with current and upcoming students, and get answers to various questions people may have before making their final choice. 

One of the biggest events of admitted students day is the campus tour, students and their families are allowed to visit dorms, dining facilities, academic buildings, etc, to help students get a real feel for their future home. Helen Pineda, a senior at Leonia High School inputs “Going to admitted students day was so fun and eye opening and being able to  see the campus I might live on for the next four years.” 

Aside from touring the campus, students get the opportunity to meet with their future professors and advisors. Most universities will host a department fair or a major fair where students will be able to learn more about their major and other academic resources. These meetings will be helpful in making sure the university and the student align with each other.

Another beneficial part of Admitted Students Day is being able to connect with future classmates while also learning more about student life there. Many universities will set up club fairs where students can explore different extracurricular activities from club sports to regular clubs. Going to these events will give students a better sense of what the community is like there. 

Another key part about this day is learning about financial aid and housing, offering families and students guidance on everything from tuition to scholarships to dorming and meal fees. These resources being readily available will help ease concerns of students and parents alike.

For a lot of students this event will help students make their final decision to enroll. Being able to experience the university firsthand allows for them to not only picture themselves there but also see if it’s the right fit for them, which makes admitted students day an important part of a students college journey.
