Holiday Gift Giving Guide

As the season of gift gifting approaches, the excitement of gift-giving is also followed by a large wave of stress. Especially with students who have to juggle school work, extracurricular activities, jobs, and tight budgets. Although it is hard, students at Leonia High School have learned how to make the most of the holiday season by sharing their thoughts and creative, thoughtful and affordable gift ideas.

Katelyn Yu, a sophomore at Leonia High School, uses her crafty abilities to make meaningful creations to give to family and friends saying, “When buying a gift for someone, I usually think about their interests or something that reminds me of them. When it is someone close to me, sometimes it would be a handmade gift or an inside joke we share.” Her approach highlights the charm of handmade gifts, offering a heartfelt alternative that will mean much more than any store bought gift.

In the same light, Junior Milo Suzuki believes what makes a holiday gift truly special when it is personal to the person receiving the gift. “I think what makes a holiday gift memorable is if it resonates with their emotions and experiences,” Milo explained, “This reflects a sense of thoughtfulness and makes the gift more uniquely personal.” Both students emphasize the importance of thoughtfulness of gift-giving underlying how the most simple gifts can be seen as meaningful gestures.

Building on the view of stress while looking for the perfect gift, Senior Francesco Marino states, “Ways to multitask shopping while doing school can be, buying most of the gifts online, while you can do your work while waiting, and take breaks to create gifts.”

Ultimately, while the holiday season brings stress, the joy of creating thoughtful gifts outweighs the challenges. Whether through handmade creations, personal touches or cheaper alternatives, students at Leonia High School demonstrate the true essence of the holiday season. By focusing on thoughtful impressions that will last a lifetime making the holiday season all the more special
