Chris Brown’s X
Chris Brown’s X is a dramatic improvement over his last album.
This has been quite a year for R&B artist Chris Brown. Between being shot at during an LA nightclub party, going to jail for 108 days, and rehab, there was a lot riding on his September 2014 album release. Thus far, the album has received positive reviews from critics and is number one on the R&B/HipHop Charts and Number Two on the US Billboard 200. The album features appearances from artists such as Usher, Ariana Grande, Jhene Aiko, Trey Songz and Kendrick Lamar.
In his new album Brown talks about his mistakes that have happened in his life so far in songs such as “X” and “Autumn Leaves.” In the song “X,” Brown talks about his past relationship with Rihanna and how he needs to move on while also calling out the people around him as bad influences as he attempts to turn over a new leaf. The song “Autumn Leaves,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, talks about the pain and destruction of a relationship. Chris also paid homage to one of R&B’s best artists, R. Kelly, with “Songs on 12 Play” featuring R&B artist Trey Songz.
The most popular singles that are featured on his album X are “Loyal” and “New Flame,” in addition to singles from last year such as “Fine China,” “Love More,” and “Don’t Think They Know.”
