Diving Into Riverdale
With the seasons changing from summer to fall, it’s only fit that a new season is on the horizon. Hit show Riverdale has been renewed for a second season and is set to premier the first episode of Season 2, Wednesday October 11. The show takes place in a quiet but mysterious town called Riverdale.
The show is a spin-off the beloved American comic, Archie, the main male character, Archie, is placed in a love triangle between his two best girl friends, Betty and Veronica. Together the three face the trials and tribulations of high school.
The show is parallel to the comics in the sense that it has all the same characters, but their importance has been augmented from the comics to the hit-show. On Riverdale, the main characters Betty, Veronica, and Archie are all important but now you have the other characters come in as well. Cheryl and Jason Blossom, Kevin Keller, Jughead Jones, and even Josie and the Pussy Cats have all become integral parts of the show. Season 1 starts off with the murder of Jason Blossom, the town’s golden boy, and the whole gang wants to figure out who did it. Riverdale slowly begins to take a turn for the worst as the season progresses and it seems as if everyone’s a suspect in the murder. Families turn against each other in the race to find the cold-blooded killer, while the writers also tie in normal high school problems to make the show even more appealing.
Each week leaves you on the edge of your seat with a multitude of different cliffhangers and plot twists. At the end of season 1, the viewers and the characters themselves finally figure out who the killer is, but don’t worry that doesn’t mean the show is over, not even close. The last ten minutes leave you in Pop’s diner where Archie and his father, Fred, are having a meal and discussing something important. But as usual, the season can’t end that way, instead the season left off with Fred Andrews being shot.
Season 2 starts off exactly where the last episode of season 1 left off. It’s also rumored that Veronica’s father, Hiram Lodge, will becoming back and everyone will finally be introduced to the powerful, intimidating man. One of Veronica’s ex-boyfriend will also make a surprise appearance, causing tension between her and her boyfriend, Archie. To see how it plays out from there you are just going to have to tune in on Wednesday October 11 at 8/7pm Central.
